California’s Forgotten Children Documentary

I am Jasmine Strong (short video)

From San Francisco to Washington DC, seven youth consultants joined forces with Freedom Forward to develop this site for you. They gathered tips, suggestions, stories, and resources from their own lives.

Child For Sale (short documentary video)

“Child For Sale” is a real and raw video of teenage survivors sharing their stories of sexual exploitation and their recovery.

Fiueled by the powerful stories of survivors and advocates, California’s Forgotten Children has grown into a global movement for change.

Through festival and community screenings, we have raised international awareness about child sex trafficking, mobilized communities in partnership with survivor leaders and local advocates, and inspired education reform to help end child exploitation.

Our impact extends to policymakers—California’s Forgotten Children was screened at the U.S. Senate, contributing to the fight for stronger anti-trafficking laws. The film has been honored at the United States of Women Summit, premiered at 15 film festivals, and won multiple awards, including Best Documentary at the Soho International Film Festival, Best Director at the Chico Independent Film Festival, ‘Rising Filmmaker’ at the Riverside International Film Festival, and the Orson Welles Award at the California Film Awards. It has also been nominated for 12 Best Documentary Awards.

Now airing on PBS, California’s Forgotten Children won Best Topical Documentary at the 53rd Annual Public Media Awards. With support from the National Educational Telecommunications Association and public broadcast stations, the film has reached millions across 44 channels nationwide.
